Abstract

Ameloblastoma rarely exhibits a malignant behavior with metastatic developments. However the meaning of terminology between malignant ameloblastoma and ameloblastic carcinoma is somewhat controversial. Briefly ameloblastic carcinoma should retain malignant features in primary or in metastatic lesion, while malignant ameloblastoma should refer a tumor that shows histologic characteristics of ameloblastoma in primary and in metastatic lesion.
We had experienced a case of ameloblastic carcinoma arising in the left mandible of 62 year old male diagnosed with the aid of histopathologic and immunohistochemical examinations. We described a histopathologic analysis of the ameloblastic carcinoma with a short review of other author¢¥s reports.
